"look in lookout" explores the
external illusion of a loving
family, inviting home and the
reality of domestic abuse. the
front entrance is welcoming.
when you look through the
peephole you see a woman
with a black eye.
the back interior reveals holes
in the door punched by abusive
family members and
dilapidated tile on the floor.
when you look through this
peephole you see the same
woman walking casually up the
sidewalk carrying groceries.
when you walk by the back
interior, you trigger a motion
detector with a 5 second
soundtrack of beating and
crying - the same amount of
time you hear odd voices and
within minutes discount them
as "nothing".
the door came from an actual
abusive family.
